To be able to easier support both the old Ed. 8 and AoS moving forward, we have been rearranging the forums.

This includes moving generic forums into its own category, and delete a few forums that did not see much traffic.

If there you feel that the changes are awkward, or perhaps you are missing one of the forums that was removed, please let us know.

Our goal is to create the best community for Lizardmen and Seraphon out there, and the only way to do that is to listen to feedback from the community!

On a related note. If anyone for naming our generic section that includes Fluff pieces, modeling, and introduction that's more clever sounding than "Community", let us know!

The forums that were removed were the lesser races forums. The posts of these forums were not removed, they just got folded into the main forums. So feel free to post your non-LM models in the painting forum, your non-LM fluff pieces in the fluff forum, and your non-LM tactics, lists, or rules queries in the appropriate forum (depending on the category and whether it's WHF or AoS).

That looks like a good and logical readjustment.

If there is a bit of leakage across subforum boundaries, it is likely to be people wanting to talk about army themes and fluff in "LM discussion" - which moderators and "well known members" can point out in the posts themselves. Gradually we will learn where they should go.

As for something to call the Community forum I would like "Lizardmen FTW!" but am prepared to compromise.
Logically speaking (which is hard for me to do):
    • Community should be Lizardmen (or Lustria / Lustrians)
    • Lizardmen should be WHFB 8th Ed or some other words which reflect the thread. Something simple like "The WHFB that was before and a bit during the End Times and will hopefully just ignore the bit that came after as it forges ahead into a bright, but uncertain future"
    • AoS should be AoS

    I agree with the changes.

    • Community should be a title for the Lizardmen/Seraphon (e.g. Children of the Old Ones) or a suitable location (The Plaza/The Stella Chamber)
    • Lizardmen should be WHFB 8th Ed/ 8th Edition/Warhammar Fantasy: 8th Ed.
    • AoS should be Age of Sigmar, unless we're keeping the 'Lizardmen' title for the above, in which case it should be titled 'Seraphon'.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, keep em coming!

I am wondering on the current Lizardmen category, what do you guys think about just calling it "Warhammer Fantasy"?

Since the community is creating new versions, slapping 8th Ed. might give the impression that we should not discuss those versions there. And since GW now call it "Warhammer Age of Sigmar" on their website, I do not think there will be any confusion from that part.

I like these suggestions, but we may have to change it again when Mantic finishes beta-testing their Kings of War Salamander army since the current "Community" section would need to encompass all three. That's not an immediate issue. Mantic does good thorough work, but they don't work quickly.

    Good call, RD.

Then we could have a third forum called 'Salamanders' ;) I'm warming to these 'forum sections by named race' idea, even if it's not exactly descriptive.

Misc. could always be re-named 'The Jungle', or alternatively ' @n810's Avatar Area'

    This gave me an idea.

Would it be better to make the broad categories, "Lizardmen," "Seraphon" and (eventually) "Salamanders," but give the actual forum names army neutral titles like "Warhammer Fantasy" "and "AoS Tactics"? We keep the nice name themes but don't explicitly prohibit the posting of lesser race stuff.

Perhaps then we could rename "Community" to "Humans" since it refers to the actual forum members and the things they do.

    Good idea.

Would not this make for rather long forum names? I.e. Warhammer Fantasy Discussion etc.

With AoS we can shorten it, but I am not sure everyone will understand WF Discussion

True enough. In any event, I am pleased we have a stand alone fluff forum prominently displayed. We have a noticeably uptick in new members posting their since our "minor forum adjustment".

I usually access things via "find new posts". I had barely noticed.

But in a related matter, numerous are the times I have read something and found myself stumped. Because ... I cannot tell from context whether the question at hand involves 8th—5th –or– AoS.

Is color coding a thing that could happen?

I would suggest Blue for Sigmar and Red for all prior Warhammer versions. But I don't know where to suggest a graphic element could be added or modified to convey the color.

I guess I rarely use the new posts feature.

The system we set up in the age of Sigmar is to segregate 5th through 8th edition from Age of Sigmar. I just look at the forum source.

I think a color coded system would be more trouble than it's worth, but I know very little of how the techie side of the forum works. @Red Devil would it be possible to automatically put a symbol or change the color of a header based on forum section or would that be impractical?

It still says what forum it came from below the post title on the new posts page. And it shows the forum source on the top of each thread page.

Doing this is of course possible, how much work it would take I do not know. That will be the big question, if it is something that can be added easily or if it will require a lot of programming.

As Scalenex mention, it show the forum name below the title of the topic, I see how it can be confusing for those that has the same name as Rules Help etc. You can see if its AoS or WF by holding the mouse over the forum name, and looking at the link, though this is also kind of backwards. In addition we need to be careful with changing the forum names again, so we do not get penalized by the search engines and lose positions, since if we change the names, we also make old links invalid (i.e. they wont work, unless we do additional work redirecting them).

Having a way to tag a topic with the version would be a nice feature, but for now I cannot promise anything. We have some other things that has to be sorted out first, and then we will look into this. This means we wont be able to check this out for a few months time, but rest assured its on our todo list.

Lustria is by far the best set out forum I frequent, it's mobile friendly, fast and well maintained.

It's a credit to your hard work @The Red Devil
