Well hello there fellow Lizardmen players, This is my first post so don't be too cold-blooded, I've recently started a Lizardmen army, in the hopes of bringing it down to my local group of Fantasy players. I'd like to say there was a decent reason to start them but beyond liking Jurassic park and big dinosaurs.... that's about it... I've gone with the classic colour scheme and will hopefully be starting a blog as I expand it and add some more interesting units. For now I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know that an ongoing update blog is in the works (when more models arrive). I think an ongoing project and hopeful support from fellow members will help motivate me in painting all those Skinks and Saurus. I currently own the following- 1x Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur 12x Saurus Warriors 8x Cold One Riders 1x Stegadon If anyone has any pointers on key units for a Lizardmen army or general advice it would be more than appreciated! For now all I'll say is, WE HAVE A T-REX!
Welcome to the forums! Getting that blog started will be very motivating, it helped me a lot back then. So.... with which ruleset are you going to play? We have people playing Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Warhammer Fantasy 8th edition, The 9th Age and also Kings of War. If it is AoS: About key units: Out army is about synergies. So what you have to look out for is the bataillons and the keywords on the Warscrolls. Some synergies work only on Saurus and a few work only on Skinks but there are many ways to combine those as well. It depends on play style. And one very cool thing about Lizardmen is that we can actually build competitive lists around each of our play styles. - Big Monsters - mass Saurus - mass Skinks - Alpha Strike - magic heavy - a mix of the above
I'll be playing Warhammer Fantasy at my locals area. At the moment I'm struggling to get the blue to look quite like the GW ones, the colour transition isn't quite going as planned. As an alternative idea, has anyone tried doing a white/albino Lizardmen before? Along the lines of a pinkish tinge that's then be dry-brushed white (Similar to the Gor-Rok model with the shield of doom....).
Hmmmm I've seen such a paint scheme here on the forums lately! ...I don't remember whose Skinks it were though...
Off the top of my head I was thinking Prime with a white spray Wash with watered down Carroburg Crimson Drybrush White again And then possibly a dark grey for the scales?.... This is me speaking out loud at the moment though.
Ah I found it! It was @Lherad and I like his Skinks a lot. Here's a link: http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/wrath-of-the-old-ones.20595/page-2#post-216759
That is literally EXACTLY what I was considering, a pinkish tinge underneath the overall white skin tone. Thanks for the link.
Welcome to the forums! We have resources to help you with gameplay on any pro-Lizard inclusion game (8th ed, Age of Sigmar, 9th Age, Kings of War) I know I've seen it, but I've seen so many great varied color schemes I cannot remember which forumites did what you described. I'd check out the painting sub forum and ask around
