Hello all! Seems like an eternity since last I posted, but in the time that has passed I have graduated, changed jobs twice, and moved out from home. As busy as I have been, I've been keeping at the hobby as well. Now that life is settling down again, I'm hoping to regularly (fingers crossed!) update my blog weekly every Monday night to keep me going strong with the hobby. Not all my shenanigans have been dinosaur related, but my denizens of Lustria will be making appearances from time to time.

To begin with, I've finally got a gaming table all my own! One that is standard size.
    IMG_1319.JPG

The buildings are papercraft models from Dan Griffin, and they can be purchased on Wargame vault. The table is built atop two folding aluminum tables, with two 3 panel presentation boards velcroed on top. A green cloth purchased from a fabric store finishes off the basic look. However, the table looked a little empty, so I decided that I needed to build some roads.

These roads are built from foamcore and Popsicle sticks. The Terrain Tutor on youtube has some handy tutorials on how to build roads which I more or less followed with minor tweaks. After they're done they end up looking like this.

One of my temple guards for scale. Continuing on from here I have lots of road to go. I made them to be modular and so I can change the layout of the roads from game to game. Next week I should have more then the one section done!

Thanks for the compliments! The models can be found here:
    http://www.wargamevault.com/browse/pub/2985/Dave-Graffam-Models
The pay what you want models can be bought for $0.00 (free essentially) if you just want to take a stab. When I bought them they were all on sale for a $1 each, so if you really want to jump in I would suggest waiting for another sale or searching the interwebs for other free models.

As for the roads the foamcore gets a coating of spackle to give it texture, but the dusty effect is from painting yes. The edges have some woodland scenics blended turf with some batches of field static grass. Then it's all sprayed with PVA to keep it from falling apart.

    Time for a weekly update!

This week I got more of the 1 foot road sections done, and many of the connecting pieces, such as bends and intersections were cut up and are being prepped for some spackling. This week I want to finish the roads and get started on some scatter terrain, such as clumps of trees and some boulders here and there.

I also got distracted and converted/painted up this old school fellow I got in an ebay bundle.

Time for another Monday night update!

All of the straight road sections are now done and placed onto the table, and I think they're looking pretty good.

    IMG_0997.jpg

I also got a bunch of miniature Christmas trees on sale over the Thanksgiving weekend which I'm going to re-flock and base to give some nice forests to fight over.

    IMG_0998.jpg

I'm steadily working my way through some connecting pieces for the roads, and then my main focus will switch to all of the foliage. In the pipeline is a castle I need to do some detail work on, several armies to go through (yikes!), and eventually jungle themed terrain.

More additions to the table today! With my attention jumping from project to project it's no wonder I take so long to do things...
Anyways, I'm nearly done finishing up my castle that has been sitting unfinished for months now. All I have left is to finish some flocking and some minor details and it should be good to go! The insides also light up but I don't have a shot of that at the moment.
    IMG_1003.jpg
The lighting doesn't really do the painting justice, but the stones are drybrushed and it ends up looking really nice. As always, the ever faithful temple guard for scale.
