i apologize if this has already been asked. I looked and couldn’t find it. I’m playing against a death player and they have icon bearers. Can that player return models that fled the battle field as the result of a failed battleshock test or carnosaur roar? The book uses two separate terms (slain in the combat section and flee the battle field under battleshock) I say they cannot, obvi they says they can. If you have the answer could you please include a link or info on where I can find the rule please. Thank you!
Excuse me but this is for 8th Edition and the community-based game the Ninth Age, not Age of Sigmar. If you don’t mind could you or a moderator please move this thread to the AoS rules help thread? @Crowsfoot perhaps this is a job for you...
Cheers bud. I just noticed it and thought ‘this is an odd 9th Age thread’ as 9th Age is similar to 8th Ed. I reckon @ILKAIN thought that 9th Age was AoS in that it was the replacement to 8th Edition and that ‘Age’ was an abbreviation for Age of Sigmar.
I very much did lol. Sorry about that. Have literally played less games than fingers on one hand, and have a whopping two posts to my name here. Thank you for moving it.
Welcome to the forums! As for the question: I think your opponent is right, here is why: - In the rules, both the texts for fleeing units in the battleshock paragraph and the part that describes units being killed in combat use the same wording: "The unit is removed from play" - At no point is there any mention of different pools of units that are slain or fled. - It would be highly impractical. Age of Sigmar is a streamlined game, such a thing would add an unnecessary layer of complexity.
That's what I was wondering, I thought they deducted bravery (standard bearers) and models are returned now with the graveyards and Deathly Invocation but that does say "slain" models.
Also: This paragraph in the FAQ (about a related topic, about units in this case) IMO implies that being destroyed, slain or having fled, is the same: I know that is not a proof, merely a hint. I'll try and find something more definitive.
Ahhh TK that's what threw me, Death is Undead, Tomb Kings are different. Going off the warscroll, he would return D6 models to the unit that are slain, this does include fleeing models as slain/flee are considered the same, so I think your opponent is correct.
